Anza Borrego is a scorching desert less than two hours east of San Diego's ocean beaches. Home to dry lake beds, temperatures that can reach 110 degrees, Indian ruins and old stagecoach stations, it rains a few weeks in the springtime, the desert flowers bloom in an explosion of life and the sandy roads and trails are firm enough to ride without sinking to the hubs.
