The gray, windy, rainy weather is really hanging on here for the most part. It might be sunny for a bit, raining an hour later and maybe some 25-30 mph wind thrown in. Hit and miss on the bike riding, especially on the wet, muddy trails and too windy for kayak fishing. You can always bundle up in GoreTex from head to toe and head out in the rain, but it’s not that much fun knowing that the nice summer weather may get here someday soon.
\nThere was at least one nice day this month, so on the way home from checking the PO Box, I went for a ride on one of the local trails. The trails through the woods are moist and green. Still a little cool when you are out of the sun.<\/p>\n

\"Forest<\/a><\/p>\n

There is still plenty of snow on the mountains above 3000′. There will be some disappointed Memorial Day campers if they are headed to some of the higher elevation campgrounds, they are buried in snow.<\/p>\n

\"Mt.<\/a><\/p>\n

All the snow in the mountains means the rivers and creeks are running strong from all the snowmelt.<\/p>\n

\"Flowing<\/a><\/p>\n

All the rain and water mean that everything is about as green as it is going to get.<\/p>\n

\"All<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though the scenery is epic, you don’t want to be looking around all the time. On some trails, not paying attention may have you body surfing down a cliff.<\/p>\n

\"Hillside<\/a><\/p>\n

All in all, a perfect day for being out on the trails on a bicycle.<\/p>\n

\"Perfect<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though we managed to get out on the kayaks and do a little fishing in January<\/a>, this is the time of year the fishing season really gets going. Only problem is, it starts getting really windy around here as well. 35 mph wind and kayak fishing just don’t really go together that well. So, after returning back to base from the morning bike ride, we noticed that the wind seemed to be dying down. Time to roll the dice and head up into the hills and try to do a little fishing.
\nWhen we got to the lake, it was a bit windy, not too bad, hoping it would die down in front of a storm system that was forecast for later in the day. Got the kayak rigged up and out on the lake we go.<\/p>\n

\"First<\/a><\/p>\n

Looks like it was a good call because as the wind died off and the sun started to go down, the trout really started to bite.<\/p>\n

\"PacNW<\/a><\/p>\n

The fishing really got good, a fish on almost every cast. Bald eagles and ospreys were flying overhead checking out all the action. Being out in the sun in a T shirt and board shorts felt great.<\/p>\n

As the afternoon turned into early evening, it started to look like the weather forecast of another rainstorm was going to be correct. The blue skies disappeared and the sun started to fade into the hazy clouds. Time to head in.<\/p>\n

\"Approaching<\/a><\/p>\n

A great bike ride in the morning and a successful fishing trip in the afternoon. At least one day this month turned out to be good.
