You could go kayak fishing all year long if you wanted, but the cold, wet, windy weather and the slow fishing makes it a case of not much return for a lot of effort, so the day after <a href=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/kayak-fishing-salmon-klickitat-river\/\" target=\"_blank\">catching two huge salmon and a bunch of sturgeon from the kayak<\/a>, the kayak is now in the garage for the winter.<br \/>\nThe fantastic salmon fishing continues and we will be going after them, weather permitting, until the end of November. I&#8217;ve already caught the two biggest salmon I&#8217;ve ever caught, but I managed to do a little better fishing way up the Klickitat River. This is the biggest salmon I&#8217;ve ever caught; a big native chinook. It took more than seven minutes to land this fish on 17 lb. test line, a great battle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatChinook11-1-13.jpg\" title=\"blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatChinook11-1-13.jpg\" title=\"Klickitat River Chinook Salmon\" alt=\"Klickitat River Chinook Salmon\" width=\"403\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatChinook11-1-13.jpg 403w, https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatChinook11-1-13-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To make a great day of fishing even better, I managed to land a prized Klickitat River steelhead. The steelhead are the real trophy fish on the Klickitat, they are hard to catch, but great fighting fish, strong runs and acrobatic jumps that make them a challenge to catch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatSteelhead11-1-13.jpg\" title=\"blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatSteelhead11-1-13.jpg\" title=\"Klickitat River Steelhead\" alt=\"Klickitat River Steelhead\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatSteelhead11-1-13.jpg 600w, https:\/\/watermanatwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/KlickitatSteelhead11-1-13-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This steelhead was not the twenty pounder that fishermen hope for, but like all steelhead on the Klicktiat, this fish was released to grow a little bigger. Hopefully, I&#8217;ll be able to get that trophy twenty pounder before the fishing season comes to a close.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a great 2013 fishing season; early season trout fishing followed by a great season of smallmouth bass fishing and topped off by an unbelievable autumn salmon run. Now that the weather has taken a turn for the worse, we&#8217;ll be putting in a lot of time getting fishing photos and videos on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watermanatwork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>watermanatwork.com<\/strong> website<\/a>.
