The 2009 edition of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic was another tough challenge to the strong field of professonal riders and dedicated bicycle racers. Following a challenging prologue and the Stage 1 road race held during a wild wind and rain storm, the race leaders emerged during the 18.5 mile Stage 2 Gorge Time Trial. Both the Men's and Women's Pro race leaders held on the their yellow leaders jerseys through the 92 mile Wy'East road race through the Oregon Cascade mountains and the Stage 4 Downtown Criterium in Hood River.
Paul Mach of Bissell Pro Cycling won the Pro Mens General Classification by thirteen seconds over Chris Baldwin and Edwige Pitel of Sorella Forte won the Pro Womens General Classification over Leah Goldstein by eighteen seconds.
