Great Late Fall Bike Riding

We have had unbelievably nice weather for this time of year. Sunny and in the low 60’s, doesn’t get much nicer than that. There is still a little mud and things are still damp from the rain last week, but the riding is about as good as it gets for this time of year.

Fall Foilage

The fall colors are fading fast, most of the tree leaves are now on the ground, but there are pockets of color here and there.

The forest is dark and damp, mushrooms line the moist trails.

Into The Woods

Every once and awhile, the sun pokes through an opening in the forest canopy and lights up the darkness in the trees.

Sunbeam Trail

On the mountaintops, the bright sun and clear blue skies are a welcome sight. There could be snow here in a couple days.

All in all, really great riding conditions.

Great Fall Riding

It’s not all fun and games this time of year. Winter is just a couple weeks away, got to get ready. This means putting on the snow tires, making sure the 4X4 is in good shape and there is plenty of firewood. We burn wood to save on electricity bills, wood heat is better anyway. Lot of dead trees around here, might as well use them. Hauling, splitting and stacking firewood is hard work. It will take me three or four days of hard work to get a cord of wood split and stowed away.

Splitting Firewood

The weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse tomorrow, hoping to get one more bike ride in and finish up the firewood.
