The weather has remained nice, the trails are drying out, so out into the woods we go. I missed out on a ride yesterday because I had some computer work to do, but today was a ride day.
It was sunny in the morning, then clouded up in the afternoon, probably due to a storm passing to the north. The sun poked through every once in a while. With temperatures in the mid fifties and a bit of sun, it’s hard to believe it’s late January, usually the heart of winter.
The trails were a little moist with some mud and a few puddles here and there, but for the most part, they were in pretty good shape, especially following a couple weeks of rain and snowmelt runoff. There were still a few signs of a lot of water coming downhill.
The forest smelled from damp earth and wet pine needles, a full immersion experience.
There were a few people out para-sailing, launching off the top of the mountain and soaring over the valley, between the storm clouds above and swift running river below.
The forecast is for more nice weather; that means more riding and maybe even the first kayak fishing adventure of the year. Stay tuned.
