We’ve had some decent weather for the past few days and some of the local trails dried out enough to ride without trail damage, so we got on the mountain bikes for the first real off road riding of 2016. Many of the trails are still too wet and muddy to ride, so the riding is a combo of Forest Service roads, old logging roads and trails. A lot of the old logging roads are not maintained so as trees fall across them and they are not used by off road vehicles. Eventually, the roads turn into trails, used mostly by animals.
It’s still winter and the snow is not too far away here in the mountains. Once the weather starts warming up, which we hope that it does, the snow melts and gets the local creeks and waterfalls flowing.
Because of the nice weather, I started to get some of the fishing gear out, so now it looks like rain for the next few days. Never fails. We are hoping we’ve turned the corner on winter so we can get back outside!
