The record rainfall here in the PacNW has really put the damper on late spring and early summer. Seventy degree, dry days have yet to come in any quantity so whenever the rain stops you have to take advantage of it and get out there.
When the rain is heavy, it takes two or three days for the trails to get into riding shape. Riding on muddy trails really tears them up, so even though you might want to ride, the trails need a chance to dry out.
Deeper in the forest, the trails are even more muddy. The sun barely gets through the trees in this section of the woods, trails can stay damp for weeks after it rains.
The positive side of all the rain is that the terrain is lush and brilliant green. It’s easy to slow down a bit just to take everything in.
There is an awesome view around nearly every corner.
Hoping the rain will taper off soon, we need to get the summer started.
