Go to All Out Kayak Fishing Part 1
After a day with mixed results, we were hoping a change of location would bring a change of fortune. Normally, we would not fish here because other spots are better, but the conditions are not normal. We really didn’t know what to expect.
Unlike the previous spot, the water level here was extremely high. The water level was up into the foliage of waterfront trees.
The fishing started off slow. The water temperature was 58°F, which is still pretty cold for good bass fishing. The fishing wasn’t exactly “on fire”, but we managed to get a fish here and there.
The bass fishing seemed a little better here with a lot less fishermen out for the first fishing trip of the year. The conditions were just about perfect and we were hoping the clear, sunny days would warm up the water and get the fish biting.
As the water temperature crept up, the fishing got a little better. We had to do a lot of paddling to find the fish, but if you found them, there was some action.
The calm mornings continued and so did the fishing. With the high water, we hit places that would usually be ten yards onshore.
While not on fire, the fishing was good enough to put in the effort, especially when the weather is nice.
We didn’t catch all that many largemouth bass, but the fish we did catch were mostly nice fish. Hardly and dinks and a few lunker sized bass.
After four days of good kayak fishing, the wind started to pick up in the late morning and it was time to head back to the launch. There was time for one last largemouth bass on the way home.
We’ve had a few days of wind but it looks like it might let up for a day or two and we are back on the water. Check back soon, we’re on it and will have more kayak fishing action soon.
