The July Mountain Bike Oregon in Oakridge, OR was a little on the moist side, but this past weekend’s event was beautiful, warm and sunny with clear skies day and night. Daytime temperatures were in the high seventies and low eighties, at night it was in the mid fifties; perfect for riding, camping and having a few beers with your friends.
Everyone was anxious to go on Friday, the guides loaded up the bikes and the riders piled into the buses
There was a little bit of a logistical problem with the Friday Alpine shuttles, the bus ride was a little longer than normal but the trusty MBO guides showed the less experienced riders how to pass the time
It was a relief to see the last shuttle bus round the final bend and let the riders out at the Alpine trailhead
Alpine is an epic Oakridge ride and a great way to kick off a few days of mountain bike riding
After a great ride on Alpine, we headed to the MBO beer garden to man the JustFruit skybox. Gorge Delights gives away thousands of JustFruit bars during the MBO weekend, the JustFruit table in the beer garden is the place to see all our old mountain biking friends
After a beer or two to wash down the day’s trail dust, it’s off the the MBO kitchen for dinner. The menu for Friday night was the legendary MBO burritos. It didn’t take long for the campers to hit the Burrito Assembly Line
Quickly becoming an MBO favorite, here are a couple MBO burritos in the late afternoon Oakridge sun
On Saturday, we rode from MBO camp up to the Larrison Creek trail. Larrison Creek is a challenging trail with a bit of climbing and some technical singletrack
Saturday night is usually a non-riding highlight of the weekend and this MBO was true to form. It was an awesome sunny evening and fun was had by all
Of course there is Saturday Night Bike racing
Finally, here is Ben; all around nice guy, mountain bike enthusiast and Oakridge trail steward making sure one of the paying customers is enjoying his MBO experience
Another great Mountain Bike Oregon experience in one of the best places to ride a mountain bike in the United States.
