Autumn Mountain Biking on the WhoopDee Trail

After more than a month off of the bikes due to a serious ankle sprain, today was the first day back on the mountain bike. The weather has been perfect for bike riding and winter is right around the corner, having to watch the nice days go by has not been easy. Injuries are a part of sports and they happen to everyone sooner or later, but they always seem to come at the worst time. I was finally able to get back on the trail, not at 100%, but at least I can start working my way back to a higher fitness level. I still have to be careful not to re-injure the ankle, so I will be riding carefully for awhile, if that’s possible for mountain biking.
The first day back in the saddle was at the local trail; the WhoopDee Trail outside of Hood River, OR. The weather was perfect and the autumn colors were on full display.

The sun is getting lower in the sky, the shadows are long and the forests are getting darker, even during the daytime.

Tomorrow we are headed up to the Mt. Hood National Forest to get some riding in before the snow starts to fall.
