A great day of snowboarding at Mt. Hood Meadows today; blue skies and fresh powder. Monday light crowds; no lift lines.
Plenty of crisp powder off the main runs, the temperature and humidity were perfect to keep the groomers in great shape for full speed bomber runs.
The wind slacked off just enough around noon so the Cascade chair to the top could run; opening the whole powder-filled upper runs. Powder on the main slopes, deeper stashes in the trees and cornice drops off the top cat track.
Ironically; while enjoying the great conditions, you could see the search airplanes circling the peak of Mt. Hood looking for two missing climbers. One of their climbing partners has already been found dead; with a severe storm about to bring a couple feet of new snow to the avalanche-prone peak; it’s going to take a miracle.
