After a stretch of unseasonably warm January weather here in the PacNW, February has come with the return of winter. A little bit of snow followed by pretty cold temperatures means we are back to winter. Since the sun was out, might as well try a little mountain bike ride. Bundle up and out the door we go.
There was an inch or two of snow on the ground, everything underneath was frozen solid.
There were a few places in the winter sunshine where a little of the snow had melted away so the trail could be seen.
In the shade, you could hardly make out where the trail was.
This kind of riding is tough on the equipment; the rear derailleur froze up and the disc brake calipers were clogged with frozen mud and ice.
It’s supposed to get a little warmer in the next few days, that may mean melted snow and a muddy mess. We’ll have to wait and see.
