The fall storms are starting to make their way over the Cascades from the Pacific Ocean, but there are still a few hours here and there where the sun will shine and you’ll see some blue sky. A small storm front blew through last night with a few rain showers and drizzle, but the sun came out for a few hours today in front of the next front.
It’s a time of year with longer shadows and the fall colors starting to show.
In the deeper forest, the foliage is still green and the singletrack is just about perfect.
At the top of the local mountain, a look across the valley and it was easy to see another storm is on the way. Somewhere in those angry looking clouds is Mt. Hood.
Heading downhill into town, the lower elevations show the change of seasons; the brown of summer, the reds of fall and the greens of the Pacific NW that never go away.
On the way back up the mountain and home, I stopped along the way on a trail I’ve ridden hundreds of times but always looks great to me. No matter where I go from here, I’ll see this trail in my mind’s eye.
A great day outside today, but the rain is falling now and probably will continue through tomorrow. Looks like indoor activities for the next 24 hours.
