Today was a good day of kayak fishing for largemouth bass on the Colorado River. As usual for desert fishing, we were out there early. I wasn’t having much luck and was starting to worry that it might not be the best fishing day of the season.
Usually by the time the sun comes up and it’s time to put on the sunglasses, I’ve caught at least one fish, had a nibble or something. This morning there was no action at all until, minutes before the sun hit the water, I got this nice bass after a long fight.
It was another morning of perfect kayak fishing conditions.
The largemouth bass fishing was definitely not on fire, but I managed to get lucky every once and a while.
This spot is mostly small to medium size largemouth bass, so to get a bigger one is a pretty good acomplishment. I only caught a few fish today, but they were all bigger than you would expect here.
Good kayak fishing conditions again today, but it is a weekend. Completely mismanaged by the BLM, there is no access to the water. We will have to wait until tomorrow to try again.
On it again tomorrow, weather permitting, then expecting a storm with 40 mph wind by noon so we’ll have to pay attention. Check back soon.
