Good Times

Winter will be here soon and the weather will be so bad it will make you cry, but right now, it’s just about perfect.
Don and I headed up to Knebal Springs and rode what might be the best ten miles of mountain biking in the United States. A few sustained climbs, lots of rolling downhill through the Pacific Northwest woods and a bit of up and down at the end to make that beer at the Mt. Hood Country Store taste extra good.
Don is the star of the show today:

Don

Not all fun and games. Don had a flat, the tube had a nice 5mm cut in it, but no damage to the tire. Hmmm. Then, it turns out he’d been carrying a tube with a hole in it for most of the summer in his pack. No problemo. We are always prepared here, as everyone who rides up here should be. Don fixed his flat, but his old Sugar is really beat; bent rear derailleur from an MRT ride last weekend, most parts are really worn out. That’s what happens when you ride all the time. It’s not about buying bikes, it’s about riding bikes.

Flat Tire

OK, flat tire fixed, a minute later we take a cool photo riding through the long shadows of a fall afternoon.

Don

I have a few things I need to fix on my rig, but I’m going to try and get out there tomorrow, and Sunday as well. I haven’t been able to swing by the wild mushroom patch; I have a hankering for BBQ chicken breasts and wild mushrooms.
