More Late Fall Riding

Nighttime temps are dropping; the ground is covered with thick frost every morning but it warms up enough to get out on the trails.

Woods

Early in the day the air is thick with moisture; everything is damp. We won’t see dust on these trails again until July. Generally, the traction is perfect; the wet roots and rocks are a little tricky.

Don from Gorge Delights came out on Sunday to have a ride around the neighborhood. It was a perfect fall day for riding. Nice and sunny with great trail conditions.

Don

The sun is low in the sky this time of year. While the open areas are warm and sunny; the deeper woods are cool and dark. A full 3D experience.

TheTrail

The scenery is great; you have to stop once in a while and look around.

Mountain

We’ve seen a lot of things that can block a trail; landslides, blow downs, animals, etc., this is the first time we’ve had to stop for para-sailors.

These guys were launching into the Columbia River Gorge. The guys who caught the good updrafts looked like they got to about 3000′. Looks like fun.

Flying

We saw a lot of wild mushrooms. Some of them are quite tasty. The one in the photo you would not want to eat. When they are black they are inedible; probably make you sick.

After the time change; days are short. I was having so much fun riding I got caught out after sunset. It was cold and I had a couple miles to ride; but there was time for one more photo.

TheEnd

It’s can rain at any time; so these are precious rides. Hoping for a few more dry days before it snows.
