After a week of cold rain and a significant snowstorm, we were able to get back out for a bike ride. The trails are still covered with snow and are very muddy, so it’s time to break out the road bike.
At the lower elevations and where the road is exposed to the sun most of the day, the road was dry and the scenery was great. Mt. Adams has received quite a bit of new snow.
At the higher elevations and shaded areas, the roads were wet with snow on the side of the road. Even though the sun was out, it was only about 45 degrees during the “heat” of the day. Going downhill was pretty chilly and with the wet roads you really had to be careful on the turns, especially the ones that were in the shade.
Always a bonus to get a bike ride in this time of year. The weather is typically wet and/or snowy, gray and cold, which means a lot of time indoors. Gotta get outside whenever you can.
