Out And About

Had to take the road bike out and go for a ride up towards Mt. Hood. The road is fairly busy, but it has pretty wide bike lanes and drivers are used to seeing bikers work their way up the mountain. Started in Hood River and rode up through Pine Grove and passed by Odell. Stopped before the small town of Mt. Hood to take a quick photo.

Headed up the hill and turned off at Parkdale. Past Parkdale, the road gets much steeper, rougher and narrower. It was very windy, maybe 20-25 mph, riding uphill into a headwind was no picnic. The Hood River was raging from all the rain and snowmelt, it’s probably going to be like this for another couple weeks, at least.

Today it was back on the trails. Once again it was sunny, cool and very windy. Clear skies make for great views.

Mountainview Singletrack

Kind of took a little exploration route off the main trail today. Wound up with a tick and had to break out the Technu to make sure I don’t get poison oak rash. Pretty sparsely used trail, probably only by deer, elk and bears. Came upon this backcountry pond that animals would use as a watering hole. It will probably be dried up in a month or so.

Rode around a little more and came on this nice view of Mt. Adams

Mt. Adams

This is starting to look like what we all like about the Pacific Northwest.
