Today was gray and cloudy, a little on the cool side, nothing compared to what is in store in the next few weeks. It was cool, but not cold so out on the trails we go.
The seasons are changing, no doubt about it. It seems like the leaves are changing colors by the hour. The next couple weeks are going to be prime time to see the autumn colors, but it’s looking like winter is going to come on quickly.
At the top of the local mountain, you can see for miles. What was seen today is stormy and unsettled weather. There may be a few more sunny days, but Mother Nature is giving a clear message that winter is right around the corner.
There is an upside to everything, this is the time of year for wild mushrooms. Fresh mushrooms have a flavor beyond description, worth slowing down on the way home from a bike ride to pick a few.
Wash ’em off, sauté them in butter or olive oil with some thyme, onion and garlic powder and serve them with pasta, chicken breasts and/or cheese. A real delicacy.
In a community that does not even have a full on grocery store, you can eat the same thing millionaires have for dinner.
