Dodging The Storms

It’s been raining on and off for the past couple days, today the sun was coming out between storms, so after a quick look at the weather radar, I decided to try and get a ride in between storms.
It started out sunny, but stormy weather could be seen in the distance starting to filter over the Cascade foothills, it was only a matter of time

Luckily, you don’t have to ride far to get a good workout in around here, we are surrounded by mountains. 8-10 miles up a mountain road is as good as 20 miles on the flats. This is Old Dalles Road, we ride up this road to get to the trailheads for the off road riding, kind of an “anti-shuttle”.

I rode as far as I could while keeping an eye on the approaching storm front, turned around and headed back down the hill towards home. I could see that I had cut it a little too close and was going to get wet on the way back. Let’s see, if it’s raining two miles away, the storm is moving in your direction about 5-7 miles an hour and you are riding towards it about 20mph, how soon before you get wet? Answer: almost immediately.

Raining Right There

Hoping for better weather tomorrow.
